Using Affirmations for Personal Growth

You can never have too much personal growth when it comes to making your life better. What most people don’t realize is that constantly saying positive affirmations will keep your spirits high, and your mental, personal, emotional, and mental health will improve greatly.

Affirmations are a Way of Life

While some throw affirmations into the superstition category, avid meditations and spiritualist have been using affirmations, and calling them a true way of life. Many cultures, religions, and races utilize affirmations to bring joy into their lives, heal sickness, and gain prosperity. What makes the idea of speaking and learning affirmations so much fun? You can write your own and use them just as effectively as ones written by someone else.

Finding Affirmations

Affirmations seem to work a lot better when they ring an emotional chord in the person who is saying, reading, or listening to it. Some people like to be given affirmations, saying that God or the cosmos gave them. Other people don’t mind going to a local bookstore and buying a small or even large sized book of affirmations. There are tons of books related to the subject; I’m sure your local library holds most of them.

When Saying Affirmations… Believe

Simply reciting the affirmation won’t do at all. Many people speak affirmations, maybe just a few times a day, and when things don’t seem to change overnight, they begin to doubt themselves and the words that they have spoken. You need to make sure you believe, completely, in your heart what you are about to say. Affirmations cannot work unless the person using them firmly believes in it.

Repetition Makes Perfect

Saying an affirmation just a few times a day won’t yield any results in your life. To expect personal growth without change is foolish and should act as a red flag to change up our thinking process. Most people who believe they are unattractive make themselves feel that way, because they remind themselves of this constantly throughout the day. Saying something in your head, and especially out loud, can cause you to actually believe what is being said. The beautiful thing about affirmations is that they can help assist you in replacing the negativity with positive support.

Change Your Actions

You must change you actions in order to make change in your environment. The only way that you can change your thinking is to gather your thoughts and put into action all of the positive things you are striving for. Your environment is continually changed due to people, family, friends, and co-workers, seeing a different side to you. Soon, you will begin to attract different people who share the same interest and goals as you in personal growth, from inside, as well as outside.

Keep a Journal

Keeping a journal or mind mapping is a great way to track your progress, and give yourself something to study. Because we, as individuals, see the world from our own perspective, we neglect to see ourselves as critically as we see others. The problem with this lies in the realization that people criticize others without thought or remorse. Take the time to see yourself from a distant point of view, or an outside perspective could do the trick in causing positive personal growth in having success with affirmations and becoming a better you!

Are you aware of the fact that there are more people who actually believe in reincarnation than those who don’t? For many individuals, such as Buddhists and Hindus, as part of their religion, it’s a way of life. On the other hand, there are those who are simply curious or maybe looking for answers to help them solve some of life’s mysteries along with the people who think reincarnation is the most common sense approach when considering past lives. For those of you who have a desire to remember your past lives, there are quite a few ways you can go about things.

Keep a Record of Your Experiences

All too often we are presented with very real and very valuable clues with regards to past lives, only to brush it aside, believing the experience to be of little significance. It’s for this exact reason why it’s of such importance to keep a record of events by writing them down. Furthermore, it’s of particular importance that you record the emotional effect any given experience may have had on you as our emotions are more often than not, our strongest and most accurate indicators.

Have you ever experienced deja vu? If so, how did it feel or more importantly, how did you feel about it? Search for clues in your present life from as early as you can remember, all the up until the stage where you are today. Here again, making a list can help provide further clues so you should try to list all your likes and dislikes with regard to various foods, religions and cultures, as well as anything else you can think of. It is quite normal to feel as though you are daydreaming whilst meditating and images are likely to be flowing in and out of your mind as valuable information comes through too. As before, write everything down and take time to look it over later. Your mind is very suggestible, and will pick up what you tell it to, just as you will not get anything if you start off with a negative approach.

For some people, absolute silence serves them best when meditating while others may prefer some visual stimulation of one form or another, such as staring into the flames of a fire or staring at the flickering flame of a candle. Others on the other hand may prefer soft music or listening to sounds such as the sound of the sea or even a flowing river.

A more recent discovery has also surfaced lately which has been showing some very promising results. Know as “binaural beats”, this new technology involves playing sound waves of different frequencies in each ear. So far, results tend to suggest that this process an instantaneous feeling of deep relaxation, much the same as experienced by the famous Zen monks when they meditate.

Most importantly though, is that your meditation sessions are always done in an area of peace and quiet.

First of all you need be in a comfortable sitting or lying down position and in a positive mindset. When unwelcome issues enter your mind, acknowledge them and let them pass. This may not be so easy at the beginning but with practice you will soon be able to do this. Whilst not expecting anything except to be able to relax, focus on your heart. Ask any questions which may arise and then let them go. You will find, when you are least expecting it, the answer will come to you.

Whether or not you believe in reincarnation, the images you receive will assist you to resolve something in your life. It may not be possible to be sure that the images you receive are from a previous life but quite often people can get enough information to carry out some research and verify names, events and places.

Perhaps one of the most amazing facts regarding regression is that many people discover they have shared past lives with some of their loved ones from this life. Having said this, the relation they share in this life may not be the same as the one they shared in their past life. For example, the person you’re with now may have been a brother, a sister, or even a mother or father in your last life.

What Is Meant By An ‘Out Of Body Experience’?

For countless centuries, an untold number of men and women have experienced a condition during which their spiritual selves are separated from their physical bodies, allowing them to then travel through different time and space dimensions. This remarkable phenomenon is known as the out of body experience, often abbreviated as OBE.

Characteristic of this experience are feelings of weightlessness and freedom from all physical limitations, as well as being able to see one’s physical body from a multi-dimensional outside point of view. This is also known as astral projection.

Those who report having out of body experiences usually do so immediately after going through a traumatic event (either physical, mental, emotional, or a combination of the three), an interaction with drugs, or after intentionally-inducing one through meditation and then a series of specific sequential steps.

Out of body experiences are different than dreams in that they are conscious states of awareness, often very vivid and unfolding in real time, whereas dreams are simply manifestations of the subconscious mind that may or may not seem real. Those who have had out of body experiences report feeling their senses heightened, and often that they possess other depths of awareness in addition to their physical senses.

Those who report having out of body experiences say they feel as though their spirits or souls assume a form that is separate from their physical bodies. This separate spirit or soul, sometimes called the astral body, is then able to travel to different dimensions, including different regions and different times. Sometimes they even encounter the spirits of loved ones who have passed away and are now on the other side.

It is easy to understand why so many people actively seek out an OBE. They may be searching for otherwise unknowable answers to questions such as ‘what will happen after I die?’ or ‘what is the size of the universe?’ Alternatively, they may simply want to reconnect with family or friends with whom they have unfinished business.

It’s important to also note out of body experiences happen to people from all walks of life, all cultures, and all ages. Some are hesitant to say that they’ve had an out of body experience for fear of religious repercussions, but evidence of such experiences has been documented in religious scriptures throughout history, from various ancient Native American oral traditions to the Christian Bible.

Although most people who actively seek an OBE are at least somewhat open to new age thinking, the practice is actually a very old method used to find personal enlightenment and enrichment.

It is somewhat surprising to learn just how frequently people report having out of body experiences: approximately one out of every 15 individuals experiences some type of OBE. People have out of body experiences under almost any circumstances, from something as relaxing as sleeping to being in the middle of stressful or violent situations such as accidents or imminent accidents. The explanation for this wide range of situations is simply that people are different and respond differently under various circumstances.

Reports indicate that a vibrating feeling is common in out of body experiences, as is the feeling that the physical body suddenly becomes extremely heavy. Many think that these feelings indicate the separation of the soul or spiritual self from the physical body, thereby enabling the spirit to travel throughout the astral plane.

Some who are new to the concept of out of body experience may fear that if the spiritual self separates in this way, it then runs the risk of not being able to reenter. Experts suggest that the physical and the spiritual selves are permanently linked, however, and that this is especially the case for those self-aware enough to purposefully induce a state of separation in the first place. For this reason, it is not believed that one can become trapped outside his or her physical body, and therefore there is no reason to fear exploring.

An OBE is more common than one might think. Out of body experiences have been a part of mankind’s life across a wide array of cultures for hundreds of years. Out of body experiences have long been thought of as being a means to increase self-understanding and to achieve greater enlightenment for the universe surrounding us.

Opportunities for growth not only in personal insight, but technological advancement lie beyond our physical consciousness as well if only we will quiet our minds long enough to allow our true inner selves the freedom they so fundamentally crave. Through personal study and practice, one can begin the process of unlocking his or her own personal potential and spiritual awakening — the path is there, and we have only to take the first step.
