Leadership: 3 Ways to Deal with Change and Conflict

By admin1 · Comments (0)
Monday, December 8th, 2008

Change is necessary for growth but that change also brings conflict. This is true not only for the members of any organization but also for the leaders of organizations in change. Change brings uncertainty. This uncertainty in turn breeds fear. John Maxwell offers some strategies to deal with change and the conflict that can ensue. A leader must develop credibility with those who follow him so that when change is made, conflict is maintained at a minimum. The quickest way for a leader to develop credibility in an organization is for him to use problem solving especially in the areas of change and conflict (Maxwell, J., 1993).

First, conflict arises because people are given a task for which they have no clue as to what they are to do it. They may argue that they cannot do the job assigned them because they are doing the task in a way they have never done it. One way to deal with the conflict change brings is to understand the history of the organization and people being led. If an organization has not had any change in its recent history or has had great success in the past, it is more difficult to bring about change. This will make the people wary of change. However, if the organization has a pattern of change and success with that pattern then change is easier to bring. A leader must know the history of the people he is leading. A leader must be aware of the minefields (Maxwell, J., 1993).

Second, conflict may come because people do not understand why they should do it. This often occurs when there is change. A second way to deal with conflict that is brought in change is show people the benefit change will bring to them personally. This requires the leader to look at a change from the followers’ point of view. This is also known as walking a mile in the other man’s shoes. This vision will enable the leader to take steps that will show the followers how the change benefits them personally and lessens the likelihood of conflict (Maxwell, J., 1993).

Third, conflict may occur because people do not know how they are to do their job. Change brings about uncertainty to the followers life and role in the organization. To reduce or eliminate conflict due to this reason, the leader must give clear instructions and vision to the people following him so that they may know what their role is and what is expected of them as the organization changes (Maxwell, J., 1993).

Leaders and Managers Need to Be Successful at Organizational Change

Why Is It Critical for Leaders and Managers to Be Successful at Organizational Change?  Answer: Because It’s Their Job

Significant organizational change occurs, for example, when an organization changes its overall strategy for success, adds or removes a major section or practice, and/or wants to change the very nature by which it operates. It also occurs when an organization evolves through various life cycles, just like people must successfully evolve through life cycles. For organizations to develop, they often must undergo significant change at various points in their development. That’s why the topic of organizational change and development has become widespread in communications about business, organizations, leadership and management.

Leaders and managers continually make efforts to accomplish successful and significant change — it’s inherent in their jobs. Some are very good at this effort (probably more than we realize), while others continually struggle and fail. That’s often the difference between people who thrive in their roles and those that get shuttled around from job to job, ultimately settling into a role where they’re frustrated and ineffective. There are many schools with educational programs about organizations, business, leadership and management. Unfortunately, there still are not enough schools with programs about how to analyze organizations, identify critically important priorities to address (such as systemic problems or exciting visions for change) and then undertake successful and significant change to address those priorities.

Coaching for Organizational Change (COC) fills the gap by which schools and programs fail to address. Coaching for Organizational Change helps leaders implement their strategic plans and provide the organizational development tools helps to build a strong foundation COC can help change conflict into connection restores personal and organizational resilience, helps retain talent and improves the bottom line. COC helps leaders develop skills for productive meetings that engage people’s hearts and minds, resulting in better performance, forward movement for your organization and greater employee satisfaction.

If your organization needs help to address chronic issues, then Coaching for Organizational Change is the right avenue to take and choice to make.

Report Writing For Success In Business Strategies

Many business leaders spend a great deal of time searching out how to expand and grow their businesses by using various business routines to carve out their particular section of the market and seperate themselves from the competition. As we see the rise and rise of technology going on to affect all of our lives, we see that more and more companies are making use of techniques such as affiliate marketing & article writing to take their message out to the world at large. We know that all businesses that fail to take hold of what is happening in the market place are those that will probably end up losing market share and not generating great revenues. All companies that fail to take advantage of the new technologies are those that will most probably fall behind the competition and not make the mark in the market and world at large that they desire.

One of the ways that companies can also achieve more greatness is for them to really embrace event management & management skills as all businesses should always be looking to take on and embrace new ways of doing this, and doing these things first in the market place and being real thought leaders. All of us have the same amount of time in a day in which to get all the things done that we need to yet, we see that only a few people go on to achieve great success in their own personal lives and in the world at large. When we examine the mode of operation of these people we see that we can put down their success to the amount of attention that they had put on agement skills and if you are looking to follow the steps of these companies then you should look to take on the things that they did.

As we look at the use of the new technologies and the amount of attention put on article writing as well as agement skills we see that also there is an intense amount of attention that is also put on event management business strategy as this is probably the main thing above all that accounts for the
major success that is seen by these companies.

When we look and make a summary of what makes a great company as detailed in books such as “Good to Great” by Jim Collins, we can really put their success down to a few key concepts and attributes that if any other company looks to take these on in their mode of operations; they will too take on the greatness as seen in the other companies around us.

Business managers are always extremely busy. They supervise all the every day actions of the business, monitor their employees, and assign duties. Overall managers have responsible for the end product that the business produces. Managers need to stay current on the latest advances in their field using continuing education and training.

There are many ways for supervisors to remain current in their fields. They can attend technical instructional programs, college courses, seminars, conferences, and trade expos which are available year round. However, these carry major costs in terms of both money and time, and a manager’s hectic schedule may not be flexible enough to allow for them. There is the additional problem that some of these options may not prove attractive to everyone or may not be sufficiently relevant to every person’s requirements.

Managers have another option they might select. Savvy managers are already using professional management coaching to keep up with changes in the business environment and stay current in their field. Coaches often have hands-on knowledge and connections in the field. A relationship with an influential coach can really help an executive in achieving their goals.

Professional management coaching can help a manager implement time management techniques for employees, help set up schedules to help individuals prioritize tasks and projects. A coach might also help a client find balance between work and personal life, which can lessen the stress associated with most management jobs.

Professional management coaching is considered to be a valuable resource for employees. A lot of businesses will provide coaching, or reimburse the cost for completed sessions. Coaching is also valuable to managers because it increases a person’s marketability, and does not cost anything to the manager. Businesses are aware that a well-trained manager is the most effective kind.

Professional coaching is key for an employee to reach full potential as management, which gives them an advantage in their field. The most suited coach can help employees attain bigger goals, to become more productive and securing a business’ success.

Today’s business world provides many options for managers to stay current. Professional management coaching is an appealing alternative. A manager can stay up to date with new innovations in their field. Professional coaches are often highly experienced executives with practical knowledge. Many have valuable interpersonal skills and have established a variety of networking contacts. A coach makes himself available at all hours of the day, giving a manager flexibility to avoid scheduling conflicts. A good coach assists in setting and achieving higher goals, increasing productivity, and contributing towards the company’s ongoing prosperity.

Get Insightful Tips About Coaching in Business Management

By admin1 · Comments (1)
Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Everything we do in life is directed to meeting conscious or unconscious goals. Business development is no exception, and performance management is the process that facilitates meeting business goals. A popular author, Bob Palatino, has suggested that this is best achieved by adopting a corporate five key management performance principle. We will examine each of these five principles in brief to gain an overview of what is needed for management coaching.

Principe One is appointing a corporate performance management (CPM) officer to oversee things. The CPM officer will become a leader figure for everyone involved, essentially becoming the heart and soul of this new endeavor. The CPM officer will determine the overall mood and greatly influence the success or failure of your program, which means that your selection of the person to fill this role is critical.

Principle Two: Redefine the corporate strategy and then disseminate this new information throughout the entire company. The CPM team must communicate transparently with the CFO, board of directors, and executive staff in order to complete this step.

Principle Three helps teammates to work collaboratively, with executive and management personnel working together. They do this by utilizing tools like specialized score cards, creating organizational alignments, and awarding recognition or incentives. It can sometimes be a “carrot or a stick” method as well.

One of the goals accomplished with Principle Four is to directly assess and overhaul processes and customer service programs. In this phase the CPM department synchronizes with the Quality Assurance and Sales and Marketing staff.

Principle Five includes the proper management and leverage of the intelligence you’ve gained. By the time you reach this principle, the path to your business’s success should already be mapped out, in place, and set in motion. At this point in your business journey, your involvement with the IT department is very important.

This is one method for enhancing your awareness of the importance of performance management. But it includes several of the characteristics of a valuable stratagem for observing and bettering performance. Beginning to use agent management performance software can be a useful and time-saving tool in this process, simply because it automates and streamlines the arduous task of constantly evaluating and observing.

Good software and accurate data input can target excellent performers for reward and identify those in need of direction or training, as well as assessing the overall success of the strategy in use. Whether you choose to implement Paladino’s five steps or some other program, performance management is critical to business success and sustaining profit.

Everything we do in life, whether we realize it or not, is aimed at achieving some type of goal that we have. It’s also like that in the business world – performance management is the method by which business owners and operators meet their business goals. Bob Palatino, a renowned writer, has advised owners to do this by developing their own corporate five key management performance principle. In the following article, each one of these five ideals will be detailed and explained in order to gain a holistic outlook of the whole. Beginning to use agent management performance software can be a tool.
