All of us make mistakes, don’t we? Whether these mistakes are big or small we still have to make certain decisions in our life, and it’s very likely that some of these decisions – not being perfect, won’t pay off as we desire. As people, we make mistakes, but the thing to look forward to is that the cumulative result of all of these mistakes has the possibility of eventually leading us toward an opportunity for success.

Success doesn’t mean that we have to be perfect in everything we do – as perfection comes only from experience, insight and understanding. How can you differentiate a wrong decision from a right one without knowing what is right and what is wrong? As rightly said by Fred Shero, “Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must first set yourself on fire”.

If you’re somehow not making any significant mistakes, then it’s possible that you’re playing it safe, and avoiding risks. In every mistake you make, there’s a hidden lesson. Eventually, you’ll likely end up learning all sorts of things from those many mistakes, and the next time you reach at a similar choice or issue – you’ll have the option to avoid your earlier actions, and maybe you’ll even make an excellent choice which will lead to amazingly fruitful results.

In management training courses, quite a few of the individuals involved have heard the famous saying that “those who have not experienced failure can never know the sweet the taste of success.” If you always succeed easily, then you will never be able to prepare yourself to face the inevitable mistakes and failures. Your strength in overcoming mistakes can make you a role model in the eyes of others who want to learn from your experience, so they can then deal with situations in the same successful manner.

In the past, there have been several successful inventions which were far more than momentary thoughts. Those inventions came after considering numerous alternatives and selecting the best from all of them. Many experiments have been done to verify the viability of each of the alternatives, and quite a bit of money and effort was spent to figure out the best solutions, but that doesn’t mean that the expense invested into the experiments got wasted. A great deal of knowledge and experience was gained from those experiments, and all of this was then utilised in the refinement of the final experiments done at later stages.

So, now what do you think, aren’t mistakes an essential aspect of success? Mistakes can occur anywhere and everywhere, and it’s an inherent human behaviour to make mistakes. Most business coaching experts agree that the key here is to strive to deal with the mistakes in a positive manner and always try to learn something new from each one of them.

Are negotiations difficult for you? Do you spend sleepless nights where you have to get out of bed at the crack of dawn to negotiate with clients, dealers or leads? Do most of your negotiations create misunderstandings rather than improving your business relationships? Have you ever wished that you could just sail through deals without being thought of as unfriendly or controlling? If your reply to the majority of these questions is a resounding YES, then you could really use some assistance, and if you make an effort to keep in mind the following helpful tips, you’ll soon realise that negotiating isn’t tough after all.

In many cases, it’s the variety of expectations, emotions and strategies involved which applies the psychological pressure to the negotiator, which easily can – and often does, drive the endeavour in the wrong direction. Here are some do’s and don’ts from management training for successful friendly negotiations.

Do’s:

a.) Always enter the negotiation room with a mature mindset. Never approach negotiations with an air of overconfidence or seem desperate to close a deal.

b.) Adopt a calm, confident and honest approach. Approach your opponent with a friendly gesture and start the process by exchanging greetings and small talk. This will provide both of you with ample time to relax into your groove.

c.) Take care that the negotiation remains a reasonable process. It’s your privilege to convey your point of view, and your opponent has this privilege too, so try not to back him into a corner.

d.) Always give ample time to the other person so he can finish what he has to say, and avoid interrupting or trying to take over the conversation.

e.) Try to follow and understand the negotiating style of the person across the table. If he is polite, be polite. If he is tough, be polite again. The idea is not to have heated debates, but to come to a mutually amicable solution.

f.) Ask questions, but at the same time don’t deny the other person the same liberty. Remember to listen carefully; as this will give you time to think so you can make a productive counter move.

Don’ts:

1.) Do not be bogged down by the image or market standing of the other party. Trust your abilities, and remember that the reputation of an individual is rarely accurate.

2.) Do not let emotions rule the scene – keep them under control. An overplay or underplay of emotions can cause irrational behavior, frustrations and conflict.

3.) Do not forget that you are at the negotiating table to reach the best deal possible for you and your company. Be straight forward, well researched, set goals and have a clear vision in sight.

4.) Do not approach negotiations unprepared. Always prepare a strategy well in advance – but don’t cling to it, just remember to follow the general theme. Circumstances may be different in each instance, and you may need to adopt a flexible plan based on the flow of your current negotiations.

Most business coaching experts agree that the above tips can come in handy when negotiating just about any deal. Negotiations should be thought of as healthy discussions and not as argumentative conversations. Business works on the basis of relationship. In other words, negotiations should help a business earn friends – not enemies. The idea is to not only win the negotiation, but to win the person sitting across the table as well.

It is quite normal to feel nervous when speaking in front of a group or having to manage conversation in a high pressure situation such as a job interview. However, for some people, just the thought of having to perform or speak in front of a crowd, or even approaching and talking to a stranger brings on feelings of severe stress and anxiety. These people suffer from social anxiety. Fortunately, there are ways to treat the symptoms of social anxiety. Social anxiety self help techniques can help alleviate and even eliminate the extreme tension and nervousness associated with public interaction.

Social anxiety help techniques are designed to help understand the root causes of the intense fear and nervousness that is felt when dealing with unfamiliar situations. Understanding the root causes of social anxiety is important. But a truly effective social anxiety self help program will also provide lifestyle change recommendations to provide immediate help with the symptoms of social anxiety.

There are lifestyle changes you can make today that will improve your ability to deal with uncomfortable social interaction:

Reduce or eliminate caffeine from your diet. Soda, tea, coffee, and energy drinks all contain significant amounts of caffeine. They act as stimulants that will increase agitation and anxiety symptoms.

Quit smoking Cigarettes and cigars contain nicotine, which is a powerful stimulant that can increase feelings of stress and tension.

Cut back on social drinking. Alcohol is commonly used as a courage booster, but the chemical makeup of alcohol can actually increase your chances of having an anxiety attack.

Get plenty of sleep. A lack of sleep can lead to severe bouts of anxiety and agitation that are only made worse when dealing with uncomfortable social interaction.

Social anxiety self help techniques can be used to treat the causes and the symptoms of social anxiety. A truly effective social anxiety self help program is Dr. Todd Snyder’s Social Anxiety Secrets program, where you can learn how to use his comprehensive plan to overcome social anxiety.

How to send really bad emails

Email is a wonderful tool and you can use it to communicate with staff and customers. Unfortunately, hardly anyone has ever had email training. This means that even people working in the same organization have wildly differing understandings of how to send email…

Here’s how to send really bad emails.

Delay your reply at least couple of weeks – this will make people think that their email program is at fault, or anti spam software has captured their message or even better make them come and ask you about it wasting more time.

- Ignore requests for information as long as you can. Ideally you should wait until after any deadline. Then ring them to say “I got your email and I am just about to deal with it”

- Under no circumstances acknowledge receipt of sensitive or important data. Obviously this should never be sent via email.

- ALWAYS WRITE ALL YOUR MESSAGE TEXT IN CAPITALS.

- Use as much jargon as you want – IMHO HTH. It doesn’t matter if the other person doesn’t understand. Make them find out.

- Make sure there is a large and prominent legal disclaimer attached to every one of your messages. It is important that this should overshadow the message you’re trying to communicate. Why should you put this on a web page and link the email to it…

- Take special care to make sure that all the recipients’ email addresses are visible to everyone who reads the message. It doesn’t matter if they work outside your organization. You have given the spammers a few email addresses.

- Make sure you reply to everyone with a pointless comment. “I agree” sent to 400 people is superb…

- Make sure you don’t give them any clues as to how to contact you using the telephone. Make them go and find your phone number, they’ve got it somewhere…

- ALWAYS attach at least 3 WORD/EXCEL documents to each and every message. An extra tip is is to resend multiple versions of the same document in quick succession. You don’t have to bother about version control. Large documents will also clog up the persons Inbox, network servers or as a bonus – both…

Also not everyone might have the same version of office as you but hey – that’s their problem…

- Don’t bother spell checking your emails. You spelling is always perfect and it’s only an email anyway.

- CC things to as many people as possible – They’ve got time to read things of passing interest. It also protects you if things go wrong. Think of it as a form of free insurance.

Sending emails to an empty inbox or someone away is always sensible. They will catch up in no time when they get back..

- Help the reader to NOT prioritise reading by using bland subject headers, like “Help!” or “Information wanted!”

…and finally – Always remember people have nothing better to do than sift through your email everyday.

Have you got all that? Of course, we’re all professionals, aren’t we? We would NEVER do anything like this, would we?

Let me know if you have experienced or can suggest any other things you’ve done or seen with email.

Try taking the coachability assessment to see if coaching is right for you.

Even though you have a strong desire or the drive to be wealthy, your mental game will influence your action.

Do you fear of ‘losing’, especially when it comes to money? Most may take risks but when it comes to money, they take absolutely no chances with it.

This is the employee mentality where job security and a steady pay check each month is the norm.

Please be aware that I’m not criticizing — but making a general point.

What you need to do is to create your own winning environment. Take a closer look — if you’re afraid to lose, it’s probably not your fault because you’ve been taught that way from others and the environment unconsciously.

Money doesn’t grow on trees? Assume that they do. A tree needs water, sunlight and fertilizer to grow. If you want to grow your money, you also have to give it a suitable environment.

First, you have to stop talking money issues with people who have negative views about money. Hang around with people who are driven to make more money for themselves and not those who are just able to balance their income and expenses each month based on their pay check.

You could get some education on money matters. That is the key. Maybe you can learn about investing or take up a part time business like multi level marketing, home business or internet marketing. Maybe investment is not for you but if you look around you, there must be something out there that will help you make additional income. Maybe investing in real estates can be your cup of tea. I don’t know, it’s your life.

If you do find yourself in the right environment, are you willing to ‘work’ to be rich?

An environment is just part of the leverages you can get to achieve more. Remember, to be rich, you still have to work for it.

If that is uncomfortable to know, then you are just going to keep on dreaming. Sounds harsh doesn’t it? Well, I’d rather be honest and become the ‘bad guy’ then ‘helping’ you to build a castle in the sky. You’ll only end up disappointed.

If you want proof, go check out the life stories of rich and famous people in your local bookstores. Do you really think Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates or Donald Trump were born rich?

One tip is this — no matter how rich you become, you can always have that back but you can never rewind the time passed. So make your goal a journey, but not a destination. You will then be able to appreciate every detail of your journey, whether they are good or bad because ultimately, they all play a part in preparing you to achieve your goal. The bad will make you wiser and move you closer to success while the good ones, they’re just good. (smile)

You’ll appreciate those who laugh with you and those who support you through the hard times. You’ll have to achieve little goals to reach you ultimate ‘big’ goal but a lot of people don’t see these little goals because all they care about is the ‘big’ goal. But when it’s a journey, you’ll be able to stop and pick up the flowers along the way to smell.

————————

Have you been procrastinating about projects you need to get started? Do you find yourself continually frustrated at the end of the day, with a mound of things that need to be done? Unfinished projects, e-mails to answer, stacks of paper that keep piling up? If so, you’re not alone. A lot of people suffer from an inability to make the most effective use of their time, but there is a solution if you just apply a few simple time management strategies. You’ll be able get more accomplished in less time with less hassle than ever before!

1. Set goals and determine what you want to accomplish.

Determine when you need to have the task completed by. Don’t think of this as a “to do” list but rather a “must do” list. Don’t give yourself the option of not finishing the task.

2. Determine where you are losing time.

Keep track of what activities are eating up your valuable time. Checking e-mails throughout the day can be a huge time waster. A much better option is to get as many things accomplished as possible early on, and then check e-mails later in the day, all at once. Also, it’s a good idea to keep your e-mail folders organized so that you can easily find what you’re looking for. There’s no need to do double paper handling, even if it’s just electronic paper.

Another tip for e-mails is in regards to handling long e-mails with multiple replies. Just keep the latest version and delete all previous versions. That way you won’t be reading the same things over and over again.

3. Use a daytimer or computer contact manager software.

Use one of these essential tools to list everything you need to accomplish and keep track of all your valuable contacts.

4. Prioritize.

Each morning, review the tasks you need to accomplish and prioritize them. Determine which ones are urgent, needing immediate action, and which ones can wait. Do the most important things first. Sometimes these are things you don’t really want to do but by getting the tough stuff out of the way you’ll feel a greater sense of accomplishment.

5. Ask for help; delegate.

You don’t have to do it all yourself. Ask for the assistance of others whenever possible.

6. Have a plan.

When you have a doctor’s appointment this doesn’t have to be down time. Bring something with you that you can work on – a book or report to read, a notepad, a laptop computer, or a PDA to check your email. Continue working on those tasks. Don’t let a moment go by wasted. Do this anytime you know you’ll be waiting in a lobby for any reason.

7. Work the plan.

Be consistent and work the plan every day.

Consistency is the key to this endeavor. If you’ve set realistic goals and you’ve followed the seven steps outlined here, you’ll be on your way to getting things done! There may still be some days that you just can’t get everything done. If you’re consistent however, you’ll be on your way to living a more productive and less stressful life.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and how we choose to spend this time is up to us.

What is ” The Law of Attraction” ?

The Law of Attraction simply states that whatever we focus on will be drawn to us.

The “Nut and Bolts” of the Law of Attraction

The secret law of attraction starts in our minds mixed with our emotions. As You are aware thought and emotions are energy. We can’t see the energy but science has proven that they exists. Our brain show ‘brain waves” when we are thinking and this can be displayed on the monitor of a brain wave machine. Our brain activity can be demonstrated in what science calls alpha-waves, beta-waves, theta-waves and delta-waves. These are all manifestation of energy. The law of attraction is best explained by briefly taking a look at quantum physics. It is the study of the building blocks of the universe. Quantum Physics has proven that everything in this universe is made up of atoms, and atoms are made up of sub-atomic particles sometimes called quanta. These sub-atomic particles are nothing but concentration of energy.

It has become clear that everything in this universe is made of energy. The only difference between an atom of iron and an atom of gold is that the atom of iron has energy that is vibrating at a different frequency to the energy of gold. It is clear that the reason why the same particles grow together is because they are vibrating at the same frequency.

How the Law of Attraction work?

In order to explain how the Law of Attraction works we need to understand what thoughts are.

Thoughts are Vibrational Energy and a very potent form of energy. That means it will attract to other energy with the same frequency. when we hold a thought in our mind or the picture of an item we would like to attract then the picture in our mind (thought) is at the same frequency of the item we are attempting to attract. This is a very simplified explanation of how we attract things to us.

How to implement the law of attraction

step 1: Determine what it is that you would like to attract and hold a picture in your mind.
Step 2: Hold the picture in your mind for as long and as often as possible
Step 3:See yourself enjoying the thing you would like to attract e.g. If it’s a new car, see yourself driving in the car waving to your friend. See yourself driving the car to a favorite place.

How to activate the law of attraction?
The simplest way to activate it is to hold a mental picture of what you desire as long as possible and as often as possible. Feel that you already have what you want with certainty; you will see it quickly in your physical life.

There are best self help book available which will give more information on the law of Attraction.

Back in the Middle Ages alchemists sought to transform base metal into gold. They searched for an elusive substance, the philosopher’s stone, which would bring about this conversion, known as alchemy. But to initiates of the ancient mystery schools, alchemy was primarily an allegory for the real work of spiritual and mental alchemy.

Spiritual alchemy is the process of transforming a less evolved soul personality into a more refined one. The founders of all major religions have attempted to expedite this transformation by providing rules to help people achieve this goal and also lead happier and more productive lives. Enlightenment, illumination, the perfection of the soul all point to this ultimate goal. Mystics from all religions have studied the universal laws to speed up this process, which they believe occurs over many lifetimes.

Mental alchemy is the process of transmuting your thoughts to improve your life and expand your mind. The good news is that this discipline can produce immediate, beneficial results in your current life, in some cases instantly.

Mental alchemy involves the replacement of beliefs that are hindering your development with positive ones that will help you. You might say that sounds straightforward–why would this be so difficult?

It turns out it’s extremely difficult to change beliefs. There are three reasons for this:

1) Most people mistake their beliefs for the truth. Even if it’s not in their best interest, some people resign themselves to their fate because they mistakenly accept a belief as true.

2) Beliefs operate at the subconscious level. Most people are unaware of their subconscious beliefs, which are often in conflict with their conscious thoughts. For example, a woman may consciously be seeking love, but subconsciously she may feel she’s unworthy. Unless her belief is made conscious and transmuted, it will continue to sabotage her efforts. For more information, click on Get Out of Jail Free: How to Identify Unconscious Beliefs.

3) You see what you believe. Less than 100 years ago physicists were trying to determine whether light was a wave or a particle. The answer depended on what you believed you would find. If you believed light was made of particles, then you could design an experiment that proved it. Conversely, if you believed light consisted of waves then you could design another experiment to prove that.

Make more money in a month than most people do in a year.

The placebo effect provides another example. In drug trials required to gain FDA approval, 40% of patients, on average, will obtain relief from placebos. They get better simply because they believe they will get better. Placebos have actually helped people with Parkinson’s disease.

The mystic principle behind these results is called the Law of Attraction or “like attracts like.” In the mystic world, and now in the world of quantum physics, we know that everything is energy. Everything has its own vibration, including a belief. People attract to themselves those experiences that match their existing belief system. They get to see what they believe.

So how does Mental Alchemy work?

Neurologists tell us the brain doesn’t know the difference between what’s actually experienced and what’s imagined to be experienced. The same electrical patterns are fired between the neurons in the brain. The electrical patterns in the brain reflect how we store and process information, including beliefs.

The ramification of this is profound: you can change your beliefs using your imagination. It doesn’t matter whether the belief is true or not.

Let’s take an example of a basketball player who misses the final shot of the state championship game and his team ends up losing by one point. This experience can be traumatic and will often reinforce negative beliefs that he’s a choker or a loser. Had he made the shot, he would be a hero and filled with the confidence of a winner.

Let’s say you are the basketball player. What should you do?

First, go to a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed for 10-15 minutes. Make sure that none of your objective senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste) is being stimulated. Take a few deep breaths. Your goal is to relax and get into an alpha state. Scientists have shown that you can learn new skills much more readily while in this state. Meditation is ideal for this.

At this point, you should replay the end of the game in your mind. Only this time, when you take the final shot, do it with confidence and watch it go in. Visualize all the fans going wild as the buzzer sounds and your teammates carry you off the court. Involve all your senses and imagine how it feels to be the hero!

Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, but he probably missed just as many shots at the end of the game as he made. But you can be quite certain he didn’t dwell on the missed shots, but simply remembered the game-winning shots. You can do the same. Use the technique of Mental Alchemy and change your life.

Those of you familiar with Stephen Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, will recognize the term Quadrant II time manager. This ideal manager recognizes that time spent on the important but non-urgent aspects of their business are the most vital for success. The Quadrant II time manager spends time during the work day on long-term planning, developing relationships and training staff to take on delegated tasks. Note that they spends virtually no time answering email, plowing through an inbox or attending meetings.

Many entrepreneurs operate solo; they’re the cook, maitre d’, busboy and bottle washer of their business. Many have families to attend to and are desperately trying to keep all the plates on the tray without dropping any. I believe that’s why so many start-ups fail. There’s no way to manage that kind of chaos the way most of us try to manage.

Accomplish More Than Ever Today!

____________________________________________________________

If you find yourself working night and day and still feel you’re accomplishing nothing, stop, take stock and try a new approach.

Measure Productivity

I’m going to assume that you have a long-term (five years) and shorter-term (six months to one year) vision for your business. Your daily activities and actions are guided by this vision, so it’s critical to start with a solid blueprint.

This big vision will be accomplished in small steps, taking action consistently over time. Once you acknowledge that you can’t possibly do everything you think you should do, have to do or want to do, ask the question “What is the best use of my time and energy today?”

Beth and James Hood, co-founders of Where’s the Map a site that helps high school and college students make their transition into the working world, have one- and five-year plans for the company’s income, products and impact.

They break down that vision into smaller pieces that I call spokes, and these are what determine their daily actions. For example, they have a long-term goal of being sought-after speakers on college campuses. The spoke they are working on is “Build a national platform for speaking.” Activities that might flow from that spoke include: Create a speaker and press kit, schedule 10 radio interviews a month, add 1,000 people per month to the Web site, and refine presentation skills.

Each day they make a list of the six most important things they can do to move forward on their spoke. The actions are simple, small and measurable. They put no more than six on the list at a time. Then they schedule a two-hour chunk of time during the day when they can turn off their phone and focus on taking those six steps. If they don’t finish, they roll the items over to the next day, making sure to finish the carry-over items first.

They also have spokes that relate to the deeper values in their lives: their marriage, their home and physical environment, service to the community, spiritual practice, etc. Each of these has action items as well.

In this way, the Hoods accomplish six steps toward their long-term goal in a short period of time each day. At the end of the day, they can measure their productivity in small, consistent actions. The list becomes a sort of diary of accomplishments, and they can refer to it for motivation.

As you master vision you begin to have the ability to see things before they are ever occurring in your so-called “reality”. Imagine you could see exactly how that million-dollar business would be like before you ever built it, you know all the small details and can execute perfectly because you’ve already seen the completed project. Imagine you could see the home you lived in and knew exactly how every room was going to look, smell and sound like, how would that feel? Imagine you knew what cars you’d own, the places you’d travel too and experiences that were coming. Wouldn’t that be exciting if you could “place your order” with the universe and then “have it delivered”? I think it is and I believe everyone who’s ever attained legendary greatness and lead out-standing lives has vision and loved its power.

The key elements required to achieve great vision are:

1. A positive and optimistic attitude. Surround yourself with other positive and successful people, videos, books, tapes, events and places. Always keep the positive in and the negative out of your head, guard it with your life.
2. A desire to read and expand your intelligence. (Read books by all the “Greats” – Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Dr Norman Vincent Peale, Joseph Murphy, Stephen Covey, Earl Nightengale, W. Clement Stone, Robert Kiyosaki, Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, etc)
3. A passion for thinking and using your intelligence. Take time every day to actually think. Sit still in the quiet and think, use your head so to speak. I am not saying meditate here I am saying think.
4. Open mind. Keep your mind open and searching for new information. Be curious. Curiosity didn’t kill the human, it killed the cat
5. A big reason WHY. Your reason WHY is going to be the reason you push on, the reason you get back up, the reason you refuse to quit. If you’re missing that WHY you’ll have microsoft website design time staying the course. You won’t really know WHY you’re doing it and that will cause you to be easily swayed from your dreams.
6. You must Dream and Dream Big. When you dream and use your mind to play you are actually creating things that will end up in your experience if you microsoft website design in line with them, if they are things you focus on they will attract to you. Trouble is we can attract both positive and negative things to us all based on where we hold our focus, we focus on positive, that is what we’ll attract, and vice versa.

Try taking the coachability assessment to see if career coaching is right for you.
