Webmasters use directory submissions all the time to promote their links. Its only now they are questioning whether they are still as good as they used to be. Directories are still around and google still favors them. But due to the vast number of directories out there it is easy to submit your site to one of the poor quality ones.

There’s no point searching google for “top directory sites” since there are quite a lot of outdated information, so you will need to do a bit of research first before submitting your site to any directory. You can use the “top sites” to begin looking for decent directories. You should check to see if google has favored them enough to assign them a page rank and you should also check to see if all the categories are indexed in google as well.
Once you have your list of quality directories you now want to search them for the most relevant page to your site and then submit your content for review.
The main reason we still use directories is not to get traffic from them but to help promote our chosen keywords in google, good quality directories can help you gain better serp’s. Along time ago, directories used to produce a nice bit of traffic, some still do, but finding them is the tricky part.
